The Young Writers competition 2025
This year’s Young Writers Competition is NOW OPEN - wonderful prizes to be won!
• EXTENDED Closing Date: Friday 9th May 2025
• The theme is: ‘Hidden’
• Word limit is a maximum of 300 words
• One entry per young writer

Age Groups (in current school years)
JUNIOR: School Years 3-6
INTERMEDIATE: School Years 7-9
SENIOR: School Years 10-12
All entries will be judged anonymously by our judges. The judges have been selected for their experience in literature, journalism and related experience and will include the anthology publishers Black Pear Press.
The finalists will be invited to read their entries and receive their prizes at our LIVE launch event on
Sunday 8th June 2025.
The prizes for each age group are as follows:
1st prize: £30 book vouchers
2nd prize: £20 book vouchers
3rd prize: £10 book vouchers
Plus trophies and personalised certificates.
PLUS: the opportunity to have your work published in the Black Pear Press YW Anthology later in the year!
